NEW YORK — May 14, 2025 — The CEO Alliance for Mental Health, a groundbreaking coalition of leaders representing 15 mental health organizations, today announced new leadership posts as it intensifies its efforts to address America’s escalating mental health crisis with unprecedented coordination and resolve.
Rebecca O. Bagley, President and CEO of The Kennedy Forum, has been named Chair, and Andy Keller, PhD, President and CEO of Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, will serve as Vice Chair. This leadership transition will allow the organization to further strengthen collective action and accelerate impact at a moment when the need for unified leadership in mental health has never been more urgent.
Bagley succeeds outgoing chair Daniel Gillison, CEO of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Keller succeeds outgoing vice-chair Schroeder Stribling, MSW, President and CEO of Mental Health America.
“Our charge is significant. The scale and scope of mental health and substance use disorder conditions remain pervasive throughout our communities, and tectonic technological, social, and economic changes will all intersect with our national well-being,” said Bagley. “This is not the time for silos. It’s the time for CEOs to lock arms, share insights, and drive solutions together.”
As the Chief Executive Officers of 15 of our country’s leading mental health organizations, we represent millions of members, hundreds of thousands of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and thousands of communities, hospital provider systems, and voters in all 50 states and territories. We are not just advocates; we are solution finders, innovators, and implementers, deeply committed to making whole-person health a reality, as the number of people receiving mental health treatment rose to nearly 59 million in 2023.
In the coming year, the CEO Alliance for Mental Health is focusing on key areas of strategic focus including:
- Prioritizing prevention and early intervention; rooted in evidence-based practices and data-driven approaches.
- Ensuring access, affordability and accountability; while incentivizing prevention and early intervention.
- Building a sustainable workforce; expanding insurance coverage for the full continuum of providers while reducing barriers to access through sensible regulations and deregulation.
- Harnessing innovation; fostering an environment that encourages responsible technology and AI innovation in mental health care.
- Embracing discovery via a steadfast commitment to research and fueling the breakthroughs necessary to build a future-ready system.
“We are fortunate to have the dedicated leadership of our CEOs and their organizations working together to create the vital conditions that promote well-being and a system of care where all people have readily available access to evidence-informed services across a full continuum,” said Tyler Norris, co-founder and director of the CEO Alliance.
- Those completing governance roles, while remaining as members of the CEO Alliance, include co-founders of the CEO Alliance.
- Earlier this year, Marketa M. Wills, MD, MBA, FAPA, CEO & medical director of American Psychiatric Association, joined the Alliance, replacing retiring CEO Saul Levin, MD.
- Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute will serve as fiscal agent for the CEO Alliance, after fulfilling the role held by NAMI over the past five years.
